Stem Cell Donation

I'm a firm believer that with every "hard" in life, there also comes good.  Sometimes you have to look hard for the good, other times it's so obvious, it smacks you in the face.  We've seen all sorts of good throughout this wild cancer ride.  The outpouring of love and kindness that has been shown to our family has been staggering.  One way I'm feeling called to pay that forward is to promote awareness of stem cell donation.

Every year there are more than 20,000 people (both adults and children) who could benefit from a potentially life-saving bone marrow/stem cell transplant.  And the donation process is fairly simple.  The first step is to join the national registry at Be The Match.  Once you're on the registry, if you are selected as a potential match for a patient, they will contact you for further testing to confirm viability.

It is my hope that we can bring awareness to this program and encourage people to join the registry and possibly save someone's life.  I'm currently waiting for a donor to be found for my next transplant, and am so grateful for those who have registered to possibly help save my life.
